Pretty Much Finished Nursery

Well...This is pretty much as finished as Maggie Lynn's room is gonna get for now...There are a few projects that I would like to do but I have run out of time and energy to do them before she gets here...
1) I have some super cute fabric monogrammed with Maggie Lynn's name and I was going to make a pillow with cute ball fringe to go in her glider.

2) I have some extra (loads of it) brown and cream gingham fabric that I had planned on making basket liners for the baskets on her changing table.

This is her room all dolled up and I really must say that I really like the way it has turned out. It has taken a long time for me to get it together and I am glad that I like it!













I just love going in her room and rocking in her glider...It is such a soothing place and I can't wait to show Maggie Lynn!

Some quiet weeks!

After my fantastic baby shower at Bartlett Woods, Keith and I really had some quiet weeks...we did a lot of washing, folding, organizing and putting away. This doesn't sound like a huge undertaking but if you could have seen the mess that our house was in during this time you would understand that it totally rocked our world!

Not only did we have bags and bags and bags of presents to wash and cut tags off of but we ended up with 125 Thank you notes to write. I felt like there were so many that I would never get done but I did!!!

We continued to get some awesome presents from our wonderful family and friends...well we got one today so I guess they are still coming in..haha!

Keith's co-workers also threw us a wonderful shower last Friday, November 5th. We got some awesome presents and had a grand ole' time! Thanks Town of Collierville Planning Dept.!!

This shower added to our Thank you note list but as of right now, we are completely caught up. Keith really helped me out by addressing them, stamping them with our address stamper, and putting a postage stamp on them...way to go Keith! As of right now we have been blessed with what feels like a baaaazillion presents and I have written 160 Thank you notes!!!

How wonderful to have so many people that love you!

Some more projects for Maggie Lynn's room

I found this awesome Barbie Calendar months ago and decided that I would frame them for Maggie Lynn's big wall...the problem... the picture is 12x12 and they don't make a huge variety of frames for that size (well at a reasonable price) I was able to find black 12x12 frames at 50% off at Hobby Lobby so I scooped 6 of them up in my arms and decided I would make them what I needed them to be. I also stopped by the paint isle at HL and picked up some dark brown paint and copper penny metallic paint. I sponge painted the frames with these two colors and it looks great!!! These pictures also had a tiny hole above each girl's head for the "calendar hanger" that I had to find a way to cover up. I decided to use ribbon and glue to the edge of each page like a "mat". This was tedious but turned out well!




Here they are on the wall...My wonderful husband and stepson- Seth hung them up for me! I think they look fantastic...what about you?



My other project that took a lot of my brain power was an idea that I got from a blog that my friend Leslie hooked me up with. I saw her idea and thought it was spectacular. She had some girls make them for her and they did sell them but I didn't want to spend $75 per plate...I just couldn't afford it. Her plates were oval and I couldn't find any oval plates. She used vintage paper dolls and I found some real rockin' Barbie paper dolls. But it is the same idea...so thanks lady from another city! Here is my finished project.

Baby Shower!!!

A few Sundays ago, My Church threw me a Baby Shower. We were sooooooo blessed by sooo many presents and soo many people in attendance. I felt extremely loved! My mom and dad drove to town for the weekend, my buddy Paige from Texas flew in on Saturday morning, My friends Becky and Stacey also came into town from Chattanooga and Murfreesboro, My friend Heather came in from Spring Hill and surprised me at my shower (I had no idea she was coming...what an awesome surprise) Keith's Gran came, Keith's mom and sisters were there too! It really was a great shower and after 125 Thank you notes I can finally post about it on my blog..haha!!! Here are some great pictures!

A few projects!

I made an adorable TuTu for my niece for Christmas last year...even tho she is scared of it and won't move a muscle when she has it on...It did turn out super cute! I looked for a picture and for some reason I don't have a pic of her TuTu...prob cause she was crying..haha She is so funny and so cute so it doesn't matter if she liked my present or not!

When we found out that our baby was indeed a baby girl I had the adorable idea that I could make a GIANT TuTu for baby girl's crib skirt. Well after many weekends of cutting tulle and many trips to Hobby Lobby and JoAnn's...I finished it! It turned out to be much more of a hassle than I anticipated but it is super cute so we will let that slide.



This picture really does not do the TuTu Crib skirt justice...You can't see the different colors used or the sparkly tulle used! The colors are brown, pink, peach and a shimmery sparkly peach...but you can't see that in the pic...You will just have to come over and see it in person..haha or...maybe other pictures will be better..I will try to catch it in the right "light".

Meanwhile in Springdale, Arkansas my mom was working on her very own projects. I got an idea from Pottery Barn to have a rose covered lamp shade. I told my mom about it and she wanted to tackle this project for me and it just turned out perfectly. The best part was that the one from Pottery Barn was small and cost $99 and mom made me a huge lamp shade for like $20! Mom brought it to me the weekend of my baby shower.



I also requested from Mom and Dad a cornice for baby girl's window. Dad had to cut the wood and and put it all together and mom covered it with my fabric choice! I decided to use the toile fabric for this project and mom went and picked it up and they were awesome enough to get it done and bring it to me the same weekend!!

Giving up on the Weekends..haha

I wrote this 2 weeks ago and never posted it...oops!!!

The past couple of months have been sooooo crazy and I have no idea when I have done what so we will be giving up on the "Weekend" Titles.

I can't believe that I am already 35 weeks along in this pregnancy. I kind of have been in this haze of life and I feel like I just woke up thinking...WHOA...this baby is coming soon...and I have nothing done!!!!! And don't even mention the fact that sometimes babies come early...because I might hyperventilate! So much has happened in the past month or so....here are some highlights:


Some time in August, Keith's family got together for dinner because his Aunt Cary was in town. After dinner, Aunt Cary asked Keith if he would tell baby girl's name...He looked at me and said..."You can tell them if you want to"...after making sure he was serious I told the whole family...Lynn(Grandma), Randy(Peepaw), Gran & Papa (Keith's g-parents), Aunt Cary & Uncle Jimmy, Jackson & Cooper (cousins), Lauren & Seth(Auntie and possible Uncle)and Rebecca (Auntie)...I think that was everybody!

Since we had told the Reasons in person...I wanted to be able to tell my Family in a special way since we wouldn't be seeing them until October. I asked the possible..maybe in the future Uncle Seth if he would make me two t-shirts for my parents. Once made he even mailed them for me to my brother's house...where everybody was since my new niece had arrived...and that is how I told my family what baby girl's name was going to be!




Since you may not be able to see in the picture what her name is I will tell you.. Her name is.... Margaret Lynn Reasons...going to be called Maggie Lynn...This name is extra special because she is to be named after her Grandmothers...My mom's name is Margaret (goes by Maggie) and Keith's mom is named Lynn. We are super excited about her name and I know our moms are too!

Weekend Six and Seven (Sept. 3- 12th)

Weekend Six and Seven were spent on the beach with my awesome co-workers!
Every year we go to San Destin for a Dental Seminar around the Labor Day Holiday! It is super awesome even if we do have to sit in a classroom on some days!! I look ridiculous in a bathing suit so there are no pictures..sorry!

Weekend Five (August 27th-29th)

Well I cannot believe that I haven't posted in a month...over a month..that is crazy and I am terribly sorry for keeping you all in suspense..haha!

Weekend five I can hardly remember it was so long ago..so I am going on a crazy pregnant woman's brain memory trip..haha

I finally decided on the dresser/chest to go in baby girls room, so we decided to buy it before I changed my mind! We got this dresser/chest at Babies R Us and we used a $50 off coupon so we were pretty pumped up!!








The same day I decided to make up my mind about the swivel glider to go in baby's room..so we headed around the parking lot to Haverty's furniture. I debated and debated on what kind of glider to get and this one just kept popping up in my head. My wonderful mom and dad bought us this beautiful chair for us rock and nurse our baby and future babies in...I love it and sit in it often!

Weekend Four ( August 20th- August 22nd)

After the weekend I had before, I started this project with some hesitation! I got started late in the afternoon on Friday and was concerned that I didn't have it in me to have another disaster!

This project was the Bumper for the crib! I felt like this should be pretty easy everything was square or rectangular with no rounded corners...so I got started! It was tedious work from the 5 yards of fabric cut into 6 inch strips to make the ruffles to all the different fabric choices that made up the bumper. The fabric included the same gingham fabric from the bassinet for the ruffles, brown and cream toile, shrimp toast "inspiree" fabric, and some brown minky dot. I found a bumper on Poshtots.com that I just loved and decided to use it as my pattern for my bumper..I tried to post a link but it did not work so go to Poshtots.com and look at baby girl bedding and the name is Ainsley!

I did not have any measurements for their bumper so I made up one...and I think it works fine. I sewed all night on Friday, all morning on Saturday and finished up on Saturday night. In between morning and night on Saturday, Keith and I had a good afternoon just playing around in town. We did purchase baby girl's dresser and an awesome glider for her room while out and about!

The bumper worked out just fine..the only hiccup is that I put the ribbons on wrong and I am going to fix that this weekend along with starting the next project!

Weekend Three ( August 13th- August 15th)

Boy oh Boy did I need the whole weekend on this one!!!

This weekends challenge was to make the liner/bumper for baby girl's bassinet. I decided to start with this sewing project because I knew it would be super difficult and I was saving the best for last!

The reason it was difficult was three fold:
* the bassinet is rounded (oval)
* the bottom of the bassinet is smaller than the top of the bassinet
* the fabric was thick and I don't have the best sewing machine for thick fabrics

I started by measuring and re-measuring. I got all the measurements and cut out my fabric. My fabric includes...brown and cream gingham and a quilted padded liner to give the bassinet some padding and give the gingham some substance. (this is why the fabric was thick) My first meltdown was 30 min into sewing! My bobbin on my machine was not cooperating and I totally had to cry about it...haha...this hopefully is due the extra hormones while being preggo...haha After crying about it for at least 30 minutes (totally ridiculous..haha) I got my sewing machine going and was off!! It took the rest of the afternoon but I got it all sewed together! The ruffle looks fabulous and the sides and bottom look just as I want them to...time to go test it out in the bassinet!!!

IT DOES NOT FIT!!!! WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well...we had company coming over for dinner in about an hour and I had no time to fix it because my house was an absolute disaster. I of course was heartbroken and in an immediate bad mood...I got the house as clean as it was gonna get, started dinner and my company was here...bad timing for a bad mood huh...sorry Nick, Sheri, Madison and Tucker...:( They endured my bad mood and I tried to be good but all I could think about was that silly bassinet and how in the world I was gonna fix it.

The next morning I investigated the situation and tried to come up with a plan. The problem is...the bottom is bigger than the top when it should be the other way around...how this happened I do not know. All my measurements were right, I thought I sewed it together right, and I had been testing is out after each finished stitch. What oh what was I gonna do...there was way to much fabric at the bottom and the top didn't even touch the sides. I decided that I would rip it apart and start over...but no more work on it today. Somehow even after enduring my horrible mood the night before...Sheri still wanted to hang out with me...wow, what a friend! But what she wanted to do with me was to for sure put me in a great mood!!! We went to REGISTER!!! We decided to start at Target! We had a good time...after what felt like 12 hours we decided one store was enough for one day!

I got home and was in a good mood and decided not to ruin it by working on the bassinet anymore.

On Sunday afternoon, I decided to try one more thing before giving up and waiting till my mom came into town to fix it! The plan was to add a triangle piece of fabric on one side of the curved bassinet, small point at the bottom and large piece at the top, and to add darts at the bottom of the other curve. I worked at it all afternoon...not even a nap!

It worked!!!! YAY!!!!!!

And I must say it looks pretty good...considering the mess that it looks like..haha That night I added some ribbon to tie on the basket handles and called it quits. Here are some pictures of the "finished product" I added quotation marks because Keith still needs to paint it...it will be a creamy white!







Remember: I am not a professional...so do not...I repeat...do not...look to closely!!

Weekned Two (August 6th- August 8th)

On Friday the 6th...My good friend and coworker, Malissa, brought out the baby's crib and changing table that we bought from her. I was so excited to get it in baby girl's room! These two items had been hanging out in her attic and she reluctantly sold them to me for an awesome price. Thanks Malissa!!

Since they had been in the attic they both needed a good cleaning and to be polished! This is what I did for the remaining time during the weekend. Who knew it would take so long!

Weekend ONE (July 30th-August 1st)

Keith was such a good dad and hubby and "volunteered" to paint baby girls room!
