Baby Girl's Nursrey

Let me show you what is going to be!

First things first...baby girl needs a ceiling fan..especially since the front of our house is the warmest part of the house.

Daddy (Keith) hung up baby's fan...I wanted to take a pic of him actually doing the installation but he had his shirt off and that may not be blog worthy so I didn't take a pic. Here is the fan in action...although it looks like it is still!

Baby girl's most special thing to have...so far!!!
Here is the story:
Keith's mom (Lynn) was over at the house several weeks ago and I was showing her a few things that baby already had gotten. One being a jumbo bassinet (handed down to me by a great friend Sheri!!)..she said...awww..I had a bassinet that you could have used..I said...tell me more...She said it was old and I prob. didn't want it...She said that was the bassinet that she used when Keith and sisters were babies...the one that she and her siblings were in when they were all babies and the one that Keith's Gran and her siblings were in when they were babies...meaning that this bassinet that I had never heard of was at least 75 years old and was sitting in the Reasons' attic waiting for someone else to love it! My answer was...HELLOOOOO! Of course I want to use that bassinet!!! She got it down for me from the attic and now it sits proudly in my living room waiting to be "freshened" up. It needs a cleaning, a new coat of paint, and of course a wheel....we might even splurge for 4 new wheels..haha Here is a pic of this special bassinet!

This is the dark brown gingham fabric that I plan on making a liner with an awesome ruffle around the top for the bassinet!

Let me tell you what a genius I am...haha

So the gingham fabric I wanted was dark brown and cream...the only brown gingham fabric I could find was dark brown and stark white...booo!!!

So...I bought half a yard of this brown and white fabric and decided I would experiment....
First I filled up my bathtub with hot water and then threw in some tea bags and soaked my fabric for 2 hours I guess...Seth (my stepson) came into the living room and said...Why is there dirty underwear and bags of that tea stuff in my bathtub...hahaha...that was hilarious..I then had to explain to both of my boys what I was doing. This did not work!! booo! I then said hmmm maybe it just wasnt strong enough tea...so I got a pot out boiled up some water...put 5 tea bags in the hot water (like I was making super strong tea) turned off the eye and put my fabric in the pot and soaked it over night...when I woke up...I got the fabric out and said..hmmm this just might be perfect. here was the test...wash it! The fabric came out perfectly!!! Dark Brown and cream...here is a picture but you can hardly tell!

I plan on using the gingham fabric for some more ruffles on the bumper I plan on making...here is the brown and cream toile (hince the need for brown and cream gingham fabric)

This is another fabric for the bumper..it is a really light peachy-pink silk like fabric with rouche accents

This is a dark brown minky dot fabric being used as an accent fabric for the bumper and all over the room here and there!

Here are all the fabrics together!

Now we need to pick a paint color...ooooo...look at all the pretty colors!

The four colors we narrowed it down to..

The four with the fabric we are trying to match...you cannot tell in this picture but they are all like identical colors and match the fabric in different ways. Our decision is Shrimp Toast (the second from the left)

Well that is all I have got for now. Keith is going to paint the room this weekend..I think...we are also going shopping for the chest for baby and a glider for the room. We have lined up the purchase of a cherry Jenny Lind crib, changer, and a toy box...so I think we are doing pretty swell. Now I just need to get started on all this sewing!

Wish me Luck! haha...I am going to need it!

Popcorn!!!

Well this week I had the pleasure of feeling my baby girl move and kick! I feel now that I have felt her in the past but didn't know what those "pressurey" feelings were. Now that there are little kicks in there I can tell the difference. I say popcorn because to me that is what she feels like. It feels as if I was a bag of popcorn popping in the microwave....pop...pop....pop... and not in one place but all over...pop...pop...pop! It is a great feeling and I find myself laying real still trying desperately to feel her again and again...but apparently she does have her still moments!

Today I am going to buy my fabric for the nursery! I am planning on making the ,the crib skirt, and the liner for my bassinet! We will see how this goes! haha...
We have narrowed down the wall colors and I have enlisted my mommy to make a cornice for the top of the window! When I get home I will take a picture of all the above and upload them all so you can see!

so until then.....have a great day!

It's a Girl!!!

I just can't believe or get over this news. We are having a little squirmy girl...hehe The crazy thing is that I have been so "boy" that I have everything picked out and designed for "his" room! I have been gathering up stuff...surfin' the web for things...pickin out paint...getting fabric swatches... for my baby boy room since the first time I found out I was pregnant over a year and a half ago! I was so excited about the "Fly Fishing" theme for my baby boy that I have hardly thought anything at all about a baby girl!....Que the record scratching to a halt sound effect...shhhhhqqqqqrrrrtttt!!!

Talk about a surprise! Mind you a very welcomed surprise! I am very very excited about having a baby girl...in fact so excited that I could not sleep all night! I woke up thinking about her at 4:00 am and cannot go back to sleep! (hence...me writing this blog post at 5 am)

Everything went great at my appointment yesterday...bloodpressure...great 118/66....urine sample..normal...weight...NO WEIGHT GAIN!!! (which I believe makes me correct in stating that there was no way that I gained 5 pounds at my last visit...just like I said!...I love being right!!) But I will take it...I love having a "0" in the slot on my chart for weight gain!!! Baby looked great on the ultrasound too...baby had fluid in kidneys and bladder(the ultrasound tech said this was good meaning that everything was working properly)...heartrate...154 ( she will prob have the same low heartrate that I do I guess...haha)...and weighed in at little over 12 ounces!

The ultrasound was awesome! So cool to see my tiny baby move all around! And move all around she did...She already got in trouble by the ultrasound tech(Cindy)... cause she moved around sooooooo much it took Cindy forever to get her measurements...When she would be still, Cindy would tell us what she was doing! Baby girl was most comfortable with her one little arm behind her head like she was relaxing and the other hand and forearm were resting on her forehead, palm up....like she was saying whoas me! We might already have a Diva on our hands..haha! Her little feet were super cute with her little toes! She liked to rest her feet one on top of the other. But mainly she wiggled around and moved around and flipped around...she was not very cooperative for Cindy. Once Cindy got all of her pictures and measurements we went for a search of a tiny peepee. We found no penis....but we did find 3 little lines...signifying our girl status! Keith and I were dumbfounded! We both just knew it was a boy...like I said before...we even had our boy named and everything. Keith's quote to Cindy was...a boy would have been easier! and he is right!

Now we get to argue about a name and head bows...I of course want to put a giant head bow on her head the moment she comes out...hair or no hair...Keith says that no baby girl of his will have head bows the size of Montana and for sure if they have no hair!...The name that we argue about (meaning that I have a very strong feeling for this name and Keith can't stand it) is Ruby June Reasons....the other name that we both "like" is Brantley Alice Reasons. Ruby June has no family history....I just love the way it sounds! I can picture Ruby June running around with a head full of black curly hair(with a huge red bow) and enormous brown eyes and a cute frilly dress that her mother made her wear (but in all actuality all she wants to do is throw rocks and play in the mud)I can see her and my heart melts! Brantley Alice....on the other hand...is a great name...it is a family name (Brantley is my mom's maiden name and Alice is her middle name and Keith's Gran's name) It is a very pretty name and that will prob be her name since I normally give in on things anyway!...haha I just can't picture Brantley Alice...even tho both my mom and Gran have dark hair....I picture Alice having long blond hair...I guess I can blame Disney on that one (Alice in Wonderland)...I just don't see me having a blond headed girl. I don't see her being petite or dainty like I picture Alice as well...Brantley is a very unique girl's name...we have tons of boy cousins named Brantley but I would be the first to name a girl that...which would be totally cool! Like I said, I really do like Brantley Alice..I just have stronger feelings for Ruby June! I guess we will just see!

Over all very good appointment! Very excited about my baby...It seems so real now! I still can't feel baby girl move around but it may be cause she is always moving and there are no sudden movements for me to notice...haha Anyway, I love her and am thrilled! Now....lets go shopping!...ps..if you have any girl ideas for her nursery let me know!!!

Here she is:

Countdown....One week 'til next Ultrasound!!

Well folks....as I am writing this I am 19 weeks and in one week...July 9th to be exact...I will have my 20 week appointment at the ole doctor's office!

You know what that means don't you.......ULTRASOUND!!! I could not be more excited!

Yes I will find out if I am having a boy or a girl at this appointment and I know everyone is super excited to find out...Don't get me wrong I am pretty pumped up myself about finding out..but I could care less one way or the other. I am so incredibly blessed to be having this child and I am not really drawn to wanting one or the other so it will be just excellent to find out if there is a boy or a girl in there! On a further note.....I think it is a boy...I don't know why and have no reasons to believe that but that is what I think is in there!

I am beside myself with excitement thinking that in one week I will get to see my precious little one! The last time I saw "it" was at my 5 week appointment and there was only a little speck of a baby in there. Now my baby looks like a baby...a real life baby and there are no real words for me to use that describes the amount of excitement that I have about seeing my tiny baby move around and be well a baby!

I have my fabrics picked out for both a girl and a boy's nursery...I am pretty thrilled to get started on all that sooooo...I invite everyone to share in the fun!: WHAT DO YOU THINK I AM HAVING!!!!????!!!!!

I will let you know in one week!!!!

YAY!!!
